The solution, combined with AWS cloud, empowered idea submissions for the continuous improvement program.
Raízen scaled from 22,000 to 70,000 implemented ideas, increasing the number of improvement projects to over 1,900.
The solution fostered a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engagement, enabling Raízen to monitor metrics in real-time.
Raízen is one of the largest energy companies in the world and a global leader in bioenergy. It operates as an integrated company, with activities ranging from the production and commercialization of ethanol, sugar, and electricity from biomass to fuel distribution through a network of over 8,000 fueling stations. With 35 bioenergy complexes, two lubricant plants, one refinery, and a diverse renewable energy portfolio, Raízen employs over 46,000 people and generates annual revenue exceeding R$ 220 billion.
Raízen, one of the world’s largest renewable energy companies and a global leader in bioenergy, operates an extensive portfolio of fuels and services, including over 8,000 fuel stations and 35 bioenergy complexes. Committed to continually enhancing efficiency and safety across its operations, Raízen launched the Ser+ continuous improvement program, rooted in Kaizen principles, to encourage employees to propose ideas that drive improvements in areas such as health, safety, environment, finances, performance, and governance.
Initially, however, ideas were submitted on paper, which limited employee engagement and made tracking and reviewing suggestions time-consuming and error-prone. To overcome this challenge and boost participation, Raízen transformed the Ser+ program by digitizing its suggestion workflow using the SoftExpert Suite, in partnership with AWS. Now, employees can submit improvement ideas directly from their smartphones, with suggestions automatically routed to coordinators and managers for approval based on potential impact. The platform also enables real-time monitoring of key metrics, like idea approval rates and individual employee performance, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
The results have exceeded expectations: digital transformation scaled Raízen’s captured and implemented ideas from 22,000 to 70,000, with over 1,900 improvement projects launched. Raízen also saw a 58% reduction in incident rates, zero accidents in certified areas, and improvements across 4,500 workspaces. This advancement has positioned Ser+ as a cornerstone of Raízen’s innovation efforts, underscoring how technology can drive real gains in safety, efficiency, and engagement.
