Process revision and standardization
After recently structuring the R&D department and the Industrial Maintenance department, the biggest challenges were standardizing records on new ideas, improving communication between the areas involved, and managing changes in the product development process. According to Eduardo Spitzner, Buschle & Lepper's IT Manager, the ERP did not provide a specific solution to meet these demands. "We found a strategic need to streamline deliveries and enhance performance in areas, since not only were
management tools lacking, but processes also needed to be reviewed," he points out.
Performance optimization
To confront these challenges, Buschle & Lepper adopted SoftExpert PLM for product lifecycle management, along with SoftExpert EAM, which optimizes asset performance and use. Spitzner points out that some differentials that weighed heavily in choosing the software included its dynamic platform, ease of use, availability of named user and floating licenses, integration with other systems, autonomous configuration and customization of the tool, and the ability to acquire interconnected modules. "The way the suite was written, based on good practices with certifications that are widely used in the market and interconnected modules, offers a broad spectrum of solutions and possibilities," he says
Increased revenue and effective management
The organization saw significant results after consolidating the solution in the R&D department, with new product revenues doubling from 2019 to 2020, with an increase of approximately $ 2 million. At the same time, around 100 new ideas related to new products were registered. Spitzner says that the tool has brought a variety of benefits, such as: standardization and control in registering new product ideas, improved assessment of the portfolio and future investments, greater engagement of teams involved with projects, more effective management of documents related to products and processes, reduced errors, the ability to identify the biggest bottlenecks in processes, and creation of indicators for the area. Additionally, the implementation of SoftExpert EAM, for asset and maintenance management, made it possible to monitor all service orders in real time.
“Before, preventive maintenance wasn't done. Now, with the SoftExpert Suite, it accounts for 81% of our service orders. Only 19% are for corrective maintenance," says Spitzner.
The Action Plan and Audit components are expected to be applied before the end of 2021 and will be used in all of the group's branch offices.
