    LIASA is one of the world's largest producers of silicon metal, a critical component for approximately 10,000 products, ranging from industrial and medical silicone to metal alloys, solar panels, electric vehicle batteries, and microprocessors.     LIASA Transforms Supplier Management and ESG Practices with SoftExpert Solution

    As South America's largest and a global leading producer of silicon metal, LIASA stands out not only for its technological innovation but also for its commitment to sustainable practices. In 2022, the company invested approximately R$50 million in process improvement and innovation projects. In 2023, LIASA took a significant step forward by modernizing its equipment and furnaces and investing in solar photovoltaic energy, solidifying its position as a pioneer in the large-scale use of clean and renewable energy in the sector. This commitment to sustainability brought to light a new challenge for LIASA: improving supplier management to ensure that its procurement practices were aligned with the principles of ethics, transparency, and sustainable development. As a result, the company sought to enhance its supplier chain management, minimize risks, and ensure that all business partners adhered to high ethical and environmental standards, effectively integrating its ESG – Environmental, Social and Governance – agenda. As a company exporting to over 60 countries, LIASA faced challenges in managing supplier documentation that impacted the efficiency of its processes. Additional problems arose due to the lack of standardization and proper validation, leading to incomplete forms and increasing the risk of errors and delays in manual validation. Traceability and control of documents were also hindered, impairing operational transparency. To address these challenges and enhance supplier management, LIASA implemented the SoftExpert Suite to manage ESG pillars. The platform played a crucial role in helping the company meet the GRI – Global Reporting Initiative – topics related to supplier management, aligning with LIASA's ESG agenda. The software brought significant improvements in the following areas:

    Supplier Management with Ethical and Legal Standards:

    The SoftExpert software enabled LIASA to establish more transparent and ethical supplier management processes. The platform automated and standardized procurement forms, ensuring that all data was collected consistently and completely. As a result, LIASA ensured that both the company and its suppliers maintained high ethical and legal standards in all their practices.

    Detailed and corporate ESG risk management:

    SoftExpert enabled data integration and automated document validation, reducing the risk of errors and inconsistencies. The platform helped to proactively identify and manage potential risks, providing greater security and reliability in supplier chain management. This resulted in increased efficiency and better coordination among the parties involved in the supply chain.

    Centralization on a single platform:

    With the platform, LIASA was able to establish a more transparent environment by effectively tracking and monitoring the origin and status of documents and processes. This improved visibility and control over supplier documentation, fostering a clearer and more auditable business environment, boosting trust among partners and optimizing strategic decision-making.

    Data transparency and accountability:

    The solution facilitated the generation of detailed reports and analyses on supplier management. This allowed LIASA to clearly and objectively demonstrate the results achieved in relation to performance indicators and established goals, evidencing the commitment to sustainability and compliance with GRI requirements.
    Additionally, the SoftExpert platform ensures that all LIASA suppliers and service providers are evaluated and selected based on rigorous ethical and technical principles, aligned with legal requirements and social and environmental responsibility standards. The solution helped LIASA prioritize suppliers that contribute to sustainable development, with a focus on practices such as the use of renewable energy and waste reduction.
